James Hallinan has been working in innovation management and commercialisation across the life sciences for over 20 years in the UK and Australia. After training and working in molecular biology, he moved into academic technology transfer in university and subsequently clinical settings, latterly holding the positions of inaugural Commercial Director at Cambridge University Hospitals and also at the Royal Papworth Hospital. He joined Cambridge Consultants in 2016 to spearhead commercial activities in synthetic biology. Cambridge Consultants are an engineering and product development firm with almost 800 engineers, scientists and designers working across a range of industrial sectors, and with operations across North America, the UK and Asia. In synbio, they have been working with clients ranging from spinouts to large multinationals to help them access and incorporate the opportunities that engineering biology can offer in areas such as food & drink, therapeutics and diagnostics, animal health, industrial chemicals and consumer products.
